An hour hiking will get you more calories burned than being on a treadmill. Luckily, San Diego is home to some of the best trails in the country. Start with beginner trails such as Los Penasquitos Canyon Trail or Torrey Pines State Park.

If you’re looking for a challenge, we recommend hiking through Iron Mountain or Cedar Creek Falls.

Go Surfing

Are you a thrill-seeker? Why not go surfing? Like we mentioned in this article earlier, Most of San Diego’s beaches are open to the public. With that being said, if you want to break the waves on your new board, head over the world-famous La Jolla Shores.

The Silver strand is an 18 mile stretch of paved road that loops from Sandy Tombolo to Imperial beach. This is a great path that’s perfect for riders of all levels and you get an awesome view of the Pacific Ocean, plus you get great exercise. If you dont have your own bike, feel free to rent one the ferry landing.
