get healthy

Less than a quarter of Americans get enough exercise.

We all have good intentions but sometimes it’s hard to find the motivation to get out there and do it.

Fortunately, if you live in San Diego there are some fun and unique ways to work out that will have you inspired to get healthy again.

Read on to learn more about six great ways to have fun and improve your health.

1. SUP Yoga

Like yoga? Enjoy stand-up paddleboarding? Then why not combine both?

This unique take on yoga is a great way to get the best of both worlds. There’s nothing that focuses your balance quite like knowing that if you don’t get it right, you’re going to get wet.

There are classes available in Mission Bay, Mission Beach, or Carlsbad Lagoon.

2. Hydro Biking

If you can do yoga on the water, then why not cycling?

In Mission Bay, you can try out hydro biking. The bike is mounted on two floats that look a little like kayaks. It’s a great lower body workout, and if you want to race your friends, a good cardio blast too.

3. Paddle Boarding

If you prefer to just tackle one activity at a time, then forget the yoga and use the paddleboard as it was intended.

Stand up paddleboarding is a great workout, and a perfect way to work towards that six-pack you’ve always dreamed of. It can also be incredibly peaceful.

You can find paddleboarding everywhere from Mission Beach to La Jolla.

4. Axe Throwing

If you’re looking for a workout that’s a little different, then why not give axe throwing a try?

This traditional Canadian pastime involves hurling an axe at a wooden target. It gives you a great upper body workout and is the perfect way to work out some pent up frustration or aggression.

You can find axe throwing in a surprisingly large number of locations around San Diego.

5. Aerial Yoga

If yoga on a paddleboard isn’t challenging enough for you, how about yoga whilst suspended in the air?

In La Jolla, you can try performing yoga whilst suspended in fabric hammocks. Hanging upside down can improve circulation, relieve spinal compression, and help build your core strength.

6. Pole Dancing

Pole dancers may make it look easy, but it’s actually a seriously tough workout.

If you’re looking for unique ways to get healthy, then why not try a pole fitness class? You’ll work on your core strength whilst also learning some moves that will set pulses racing! There are classes for all levels and abilities.
