Provider Biographies
We don’t have a doctor. We have a team of them!
Our practitioners work as a team with your optimal health in mind. Our team approach helps eliminate the fragmented care typically found in the medical system where providers work in different offices, different systems, and often times with different medical care strategies in mind.
Electronic Medical Records – our office uses the latest technology for tracking and maintaining your medical chart and records. This computerized system allows all of our providers to view your chart and at a glance understand the scope of care you are receiving.

John E. Humiston, M.D.
Dr. Humiston, San Diego’s Premier Candida MD, is recognized internationally for his work at the William Hitt Center where he treated thousands of patients with chronic illness. Upon the recent passing of Dr. Hitt, Dr. Humiston has accepted an invitation by Janette Gray,M.D., to join The Center for Health & Wellbeing. John Humiston, M.D., pursued a standard allopathic education throughout medical school and residency, but always with the goal of using that background to find a better way to treat illness. While in his residency in Family Medicine at the Naval Hospital in Camp Pendleton, the asthma John’s wife suffered from became life threatening—a condition caused by the high mold count that followed the El Nino rains of the previous winter. He didn’t understand much about yeast, Candida and mold at the time, but received a recommendation from a colonic therapist to pursue treatment with Dr. William Hitt, an American scientist working in Mexico. Within three weeks of treatment, John witnessed his wife’s symptoms go from life threatening to simply annoying without the use of drugs. So impressed was he with these remarkable results that he visited Dr. Hitt’s clinic often and joined the center upon completing his Navy service.
Since 2003, John has worked at the William Hitt Center where he has successfully treated addiction, chronic fatigue, auto-immune diseases, cancer, allergies, and many other ailments that respond poorly to conventional medicine.
We are very fortunate to have John Humiston, MD join us here at The Center for Health and Wellbeing and look forward to our patients benefiting from his expertise.

Ron Estes, MA, MFT
Marriage and Family Therapist
License # 37086
Possibilities for “therapy” have shifted in the last couple of decades. Working therapeutically no longer requires imagining persons are sick or “crazy” because they are faced with a struggle or a problem. Problems can influence our lives, but it does not mean there is some pathology at work, nor does it mean that those problems must overshadow personal hopes, aspirations and purposes. The complexities of contemporary living often call for a time and place to sort-out ways of living that dovetail with what each of us values. Consequently, I offer conversations that help make sense of the relationships we have with our bodies, ourselves, other persons and the cultures we live in.
When there is a health concern, we can gather what you know from your first-hand experience and combine it with what you understand from healthcare practitioners to consider steps you want to take toward health. These conversations are not centered on “norms.” Rather, they notice your preferences and the particulars of your situation and reveal opportunities to move toward a personalized health and wellbeing.
Over the last 18 years I have been investigating and applying narrative practices to my therapeutic work. What is sometimes known as “narrative therapy” provides a rich pallet of theoretical and practical understandings that act to undercut problems then helps put together what you know (and what you are coming to know) about living in ways that suit you.
My formal background includes a Marriage and Family Therapy license, recognition as an American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists approved supervisor and contributions to articles published in therapeutic journals. Currently, I collaborate with and supervise therapists in training and continue working with a wide variety of persons to take apart the problems they face and recognize ways to live that fit for them. As well, I have history with physical, mindfulness, and arts practices that influence my work.

Carolyn Goggin
Marriage and Family Therapist Trainee
I am interested in engaging in collaborative dialogue to generate new and expanded ways of thinking and conversing about ourselves and those we are in community with. I am intrigued by the power of language and how the narrative in which we describe our past, present, and future often influences how we come to make sense of our experiences. As a training therapist, I strive to help connect conventional medicine, psychotherapy, and holistic practices to facilitate wellness that is unique and meaningful to each individual.
My experience as a Marine/Navy respite provider for children and adolescents with medical and/or developmental needs has fueled my interest in continuing to service the military community and supporting parents and families with exceptional children or family members. I am currently completing my Master’s degree for Marriage and Family Therapy at San Diego State University.
I love the beautiful climate and culture of San Diego and prefer to be outdoors as much as possible. My favorite activities include running, swimming, hiking, reading, traveling, and laughing with friends and family.

Holly Hunt, MA
Marriage and Family Therapist Intern
I approach my work with a fundamental belief that each of us has the strengths and know-how’s to achieve a healthy and satisfying life. Through conversations focused on your ideas about wellness, I hope to support you on your journey – whether through an acutely challenging time or as a part of an integrative approach to healthful living.
Therapy is my second career. After more than 20 years as an attorney, I made the shift to work with people in a more personal and, for me, significant way. I came to the Center for Health and Wellbeing because I am drawn to this community of Narrative practitioners, and I believe strongly in an integrative approach to wellness. I have significant training as a therapist working with survivors of trauma, relationship violence, and sexual assault. Other treatment areas include anxiety, life transitions, women’s issues, and substance abuse.
Your wellness is important to me. I look forward to meeting you and understanding how I might support you on your way.
