What is a Jessner’s Peel?
A Jessner’s Peel is a chemical peel using Jessner’s solution as the peeling agent. Jessner’s solution is a combination of salicylic acid (beta hydroxyl acid), lactic acid (alpha hydroxyl acid), and resorcinol. Jessner solution has been in use for many years and has a long history of safety and efficacy.

How does Jessner’s solution help the skin?
Jessner’s solution is a powerful exfoliant that decreases the âœglueâ holding the cells on the skin surface. It is a stronger peeling agent than glycolic acid and gently peels away the surface cells containing excess pigment.
What happens during a Jessner’s Peel?
Your skin is first gently cleansed and oils are removed. Then the Jessner’s solution is applied. The skin tingles and feels slightly warm as the Jessner’s solution works. Every few minutes another layer of solution is applied until the desired end-point is reached.
How many layers of the Jessner’s solution will be applied to my skin?
Your provider will analyze your skin and determine how strong a peel your skin needs. Unlike other peels, the amount of peeling after your treatment can be adjusted to meet your needs and desires.
Can there be any side effects from the Jessner’s Peel?
A slight pink, sunburn-like complexion will typically result usually disappearing within hours. Within two or three days, your skin will begin flaking (or even peeling) depending on the depth of the peel. Once the exfoliation is complete, your skin will feel softer and look clearer, firmer, and more youthful.
How often can I have a Jessner’s Peel?
Depending on your skin type, Jessner’s Peels can be given monthly to biannually.
